This is the personal story of Gary Cannell, a Second Man and Driver based at Kings Cross. It is a story that takes place in the working environment of the nationalised railway of the 1970s. 
Its a story of Deltics, class 31s, class 40s, class 47s, commuter services, loose couple freights, parcels trains, overnight sleepers, and express passenger trains.
This was the railway that Gary joined, and steadily rose through the Links as Second Man before becoming a driver.
