Oban Tour Cancelled

Not the post we wanted to write…..

We are deeply disappointed to announce that The Lord of the Isles will no longer be proceeding.

Despite exhaustive efforts across the supply chain — including exceptional support from Severn Valley Railway, GB Railfreight, Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and Eastern Rail Services — the operating costs associated with this charter have continued to exceed projected revenue by a substantial margin. The recent surge in oil prices has been a significant contributing factor to these escalating costs.

This decision has not been taken lightly, and we fully appreciate the considerable disappointment this news will cause to those who were looking forward to the tour.

So many people worked so hard to make this happen and we are very disappointed.

Passengers who booked directly through the Branch Line Society will receive a full refund automatically within the next fourteen days. There is no need to contact the Bookings Officer, as all refunds will be processed in due course.

Whilst this particular tour will not now operate, we will endeavour to continue our quest to visit Oban in the near future, and hope to be able to bring forward new plans in due course and in good time.

On behalf of the Class 50 Alliance and the Branch Line Society, we offer our sincere and heartfelt apologies for the obvious disappointment and inconvenience caused, and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
