Heritage Railway Association Awards 2024

The Class 50 Alliance was presented with the Rail Express Magazine Modern Traction Award 2024 by editor, Richard Clinnick at the Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards on Saturday 10th February.

The group was represented in Brighton by a large contingent of current working members, including Joe Burr, The Fifty Fund Chairman, who had travelled from all over the country to share this moment together.

We were also delighted to have Geoff Hudson, our honorary president with us.

This award was in recognition of the milestone achievement of 100 mainline railtours run by the our locomotives since 1997.

C50A Chairman, Tony Middleton led the thanks to all our volunteers, supporters and shareholders for the incredible support afforded to the group.

He also thanked the Severn Valley Railway for their invaluable support which has played a massive part in the groups success over the years.

It was a double header of successes for the Severn Valley Railway, as Jonathan "Gus" Dunster was awarded this years, Railway Magazine Preservationist of the Year Award for his prolonged dedication and work in preservation, initially with the Fifty Fund and the C50A and then as the Manging Director of the Severn Valley Railway.

The SVR also clinched the HRA Award for Diesel & Electric Locomotion for two incredible successful diesel events in 2023.

We also were nominated in the category of Team of the Year, despite not scooping the award the group still celebrated the achievement of being shortlisted along side other wonderful organisations.

Our grateful thanks to Rail Express Magazine & The Heritage Railway Association.
